Hedi Slimane’s Birthday at Art Catalogues (LACMA)

Last Tuesday LACMA hosted an event for Hedi Slimane’s new set of books, Anthology of a Decade. Best known for his time as the head designer for Dior Homme (2000-2007), Slimane is the editor of the most recent issue of Man About Town and has done album covers for Phoenix and Daft Punk. The small and quiet event took place on Slimane’s birthday, hence the cupcakes. Consisting of four books organized by location across France, UK, USA and Germany and Russia, Anthology of a Decade features a hell of a lot of photos for your enjoyment.

Events like this one make LACMA one of the more engaging museums on the west coast. They always have something going on that’s worth checking out even if the exhibit du jour isn’t your thing, and the bar on the LACMA quad is definitely my new favorite place to enjoy an afternoon negroni in LA.

The book set, published by JRP|Ringier, is pretty sick, we’ve got a copy in the back of the store, come through and check it out. I’d suggest picking it up if you get the chance.
